How can the way we consume and dispose be radically improved?
This thesis project is a design speculation on how the internet of things may be integrated into the urban fabric as a new type of infrastructure, one that enhances sustainability by altering user behaviour. This concept will be tested through the design of a 'smart' system for the reduction of consumer urban waste.

"Today the imperative for reconsidering the ecological impact of architecture has become inextricably linked to certain statistical metrics, with the deployment of high-performance technology as the principal solution. Sustainability cannot be defined only in technocratic terms given its social, political, and architectural implications."
